Dynamic mobility infrastructures in Delhi

delhi metro

With colleagues Seth Schindler and Sarah Wrathmell, I staffed a great Masters fieldclass to Delhi. Whilst there, fascinating to see the dynamic mobility infrastructures, rickshaws and autos under the shadow of the monumental new Metro.

Governing and social practices at UEA

UEA from across the broad on the way back from early morning run

Great visit to 3S at the University of East Anglia this morning. I was with Tom Hargreaves, Jason Chilvers, Helen Pallett, Gill Seyfang and others, discussing James Graham’s research on the practices of governing sustainable practices. Also talked over some of the great work happening at 3S, all after an early run in the frosty sun around the UEA Broad.

I research, write and teach in Human Geography at the University of Sheffield.
My research is concerned with understanding social change in relation to sustainability, through a focus on everyday life and the socio-technical systems that shape it. I engage with geographical and sociological theories of practice, materiality and everyday life, as well as with science and technology studies.
Different projects have covered issues relating to biodiversity, waste, food, mobility and energy, and involved interdisciplinary collaborations from History, Design and Architecture to Physics and Engineering. There is more information on current and recent projects on the researching page, and on books, journal articles and other published work on the writing page.
